Inspired by his grandad and driven by a no-nonsense work ethic, former corporate gun Adam Thomas has built a commercial cleaning business with heart. No Time For Grime was born on The Beaches and is raising the bar with hustle, honesty, and people-first values that matter just as much as the sparkling results.
No Time For Grime Founder Adam Thomas is a straight-talking, no-fuss kind of guy who swapped a corporate suit for a vacuum backpack and built one of NSW’s most respected and reliable commercial cleaning operations.
“It all started with my grandad,” Adam says. “He ran a cleaning business in the UK back in the ‘80s called Spruce. He raised me, and I followed him everywhere, including work. I was cleaning holiday homes in Norfolk when I was ten! His pride in doing a good job and looking after people really stuck with me.”
When Adam lost his Corporate Commercial Manager’s role in 2016 and was told to return to the UK, he said, “no thanks.” The suit went in the bin, the vacuum backpack went on, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Adam did his research and saw a gap in the market — too many operators overpromising and underdelivering. “There was a lack of professionalism, accountability and transparency, especially in strata and commercial cleaning. I knew I could do better and deliver a high standard without the fluff. I’m a say-what-you-mean, do-what-you-say guy, and that’s how we run.”
What started on the Beaches has now expanded to Sydney metro, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane and Melbourne, managing major commercial portfolios with the same integrity Adam learned from his grandad. Milestones include cleaning for the Westmead Institute of Medical Research, City of Sydney aquatic centres, and contracts with Liverpool and Cumberland Councils. It’s a far cry from the early days of domestic cleans and real estate touch-ups.
Despite rapid growth, the business’s heart remains the same. Adam’s approach to clients and team culture is built on respect, responsibility and growth. “After 16 years in the corporate world, I understood the importance of doing the work, not just talking about it. I’m systems-driven, big on accountability, and I know how to build strong teams. Communication is everything — internally and with clients. Everyone matters. We invest in training, promote from within, and treat our team like people, not just numbers on a roster.”
Powered by Passion
No Time For Grime stands apart from old-school, set-and-forget operators. They’re not chasing quick contracts but building long-term partnerships with property managers, facility teams, developers and strata committees.
“Clients have direct access to decision-makers, our reporting is real-time, and we don’t wait for problems to become complaints — we flag, fix, and follow up. We’re proactive, not reactive, and treat every site like it’s our own.”
The company also gives back — supporting Bear Cottage, local sports teams, events and charities through donations and volunteer work.
Looking ahead, Adam’s vision is clear: to become a leading commercial cleaning company in Sydney known for quality, systems and a team that loves coming to work. “It’s not just about revenue for me. It’s about building a scalable, systems-driven business with high standards and a rock-solid reputation. Cleaners are often the forgotten souls of the world, and myself and my leadership team are trying to change that.”
Whether it’s a major council contract or a single strata block, No Time For Grime is setting the standard for what commercial cleaning should be — transparent, reliable, human and proud.
And somewhere in Norfolk, we reckon Adam’s grandad, now 98, would be pretty chuffed.
