The emergency team at NEVS animal hospital in Terrey Hills have seen a thing or two. Between wagging tails, mischievous mouths, and the occasional mystery object, the team has a lot of stories to tell. From swallowed socks to sneaky snacks, they are the experts at rescuing curious pets from their own adventures!
Tilly and the Case of the Vanishing Sock

Meet Tilly, the “repeat offender.” This adorable spaniel has a not-so-adorable hobby: eating things that are definitely not food. Last year, Tilly came to NEVS after swallowing a sock, which had to be surgically removed.
You’d think she’d have learned her lesson, but recently she was back again… this time for an item of underwear!
Luckily, their skilled veterinary team was on the case, and Tilly made a full recovery, though her family is keeping a very close eye on the laundry basket now!
Ziggy’s Bottle Cap Adventure

Then there’s Ziggy, the curious pup who decided a bottle cap looked like the perfect afternoon snack.
His family acted fast and brought him straight to NEVS, where the team safely helped him bring the cap back up before it could cause serious trouble. Ziggy’s story is a great reminder that even the tiniest household objects can become big problems in the wrong paws!
Bonnie and the Dangerous Throat Lozenges

And finally, we met sweet Bonnie, whose family discovered that even something as innocent as a throat lozenge can be dangerous for pets.
After Bonnie got into a packet of lozenges containing flurbiprofen, she needed urgent veterinary attention. Medications like these can be highly toxic to dogs, even in small amounts.
Thanks to quick thinking and expert care, Bonnie pulled through. Her story is an important warning to keep all medicines safely out of reach.
While these cases brought a few moments of chaos (and a few laughs afterward), they also highlight just how crucial it is to keep curious pets safe at home. To a dog, anything can look like a tasty treat or a fun adventure. If your furry friend gets themselves in a pickle, trust the team at NEVS to help them out. Every day at Sydney's leading animal hospital brings a new challenge, a new story, and plenty of wagging tails.
