If your kid’s not keen on nippers and you’re looking for a fun summer sport that builds skills, confidence, and mateship, swing by the Manly Seasiders Baseball Club in Curl Curl. With a laid-back vibe, local grounds, and a focus on teamwork and fun over pressure, it’s the perfect fit for kids who want to try a different sport. Think sunny Saturdays, home runs, and a great local crew. Batter up, Beaches-style!
Manly Seasiders Baseball Club might be one of The Beaches' best-kept sporting secrets. What started as a humble community club in 1978 has grown into a breeding ground for elite talent, all while maintaining its grassroots spirit — baseball in the USA, a remarkable feat for this little Beaches club.
One of the club’s current players is Year 10 Balgowlah Boys student, Harley Gibson, who is preparing to wear green and gold with the Australian Under 16 Team in Sapporo, Japan, in August. And for all the elite talent that’s passed through, the Seasiders have never lost sight of what makes them special – a welcoming, family-focused club, where kids as young as five can fall in love with the game.
“Baseball’s a fantastic sport for kids aged as young as 5 to 16 years. It builds coordination, teamwork, focus, and resilience," says Seasiders Club President, Mark Gibson. "Everyone gets to have a go and find their place, whether you can hit a ball, catch a ball, or run a base, there’s a place for you on a team.
“And who wouldn’t want to play baseball, right by the beach, with sea breeze in the air, and good vibes all around?” •
