Brookvale was already worth the trip. 7th Day made it a destination. Born from a crowd-funded dream, this is the Beaches' most celebrated original live music venue, and one that has earned a reputation well beyond its postcode.
The numbers tell part of the story. Over 300 live performances last year. A Good Day Out Festival that now draws crowds from across Sydney. A title, Sydney's hub of original live music, that the venue wears without ceremony. But what makes 7th Day work is not the accolades. It is what happens on the stage.
Original live music is back on the Beaches, and 7th Day is leading the charge. Friday and Saturday nights belong to local indie bands playing original songs, undiscovered acts that, as the venue puts it, you might just tell your kids about one day. Saturday afternoons shift into DJ sets. Sundays ease off with cover acts and a beer garden built for lingering. The stage itself is something to see, built out with care and designed for performance, the kind of setup that makes bands want to play well and crowds want to come back. Crowd surfing, for the record, is not unheard of.
The beer is award-winning and brewed on site. The pizza, from neighbour Sale Pepe, is the kind you think about the next day. And the vibe, loud, warm and a little unpredictable, is exactly what a great night out should feel like. A big night on the dance floor or a lazy Sunday in the beer garden, 7th Day does it right.
