The Best Beaches Seafood

There’s a special kind of joy in grabbing fish and chips and heading straight for the beach. Salt in the air, paper-wrapped goodness on your lap and the sound of waves rolling in.
It is simple, delicious and undeniably local, the kind of pastime that reminds you why coastal life feels so good.

Manly Fish & Chips

Manly Fish & Chips is the newest spot on Manly Wharf, offering a fresh take on Sydney’s classic fish-and-chips tradition. Inspired by the Art Deco charm of old beach kiosks and nodding to Burt’s Milk Bar, which opened on the wharf in the 1930s, it is designed for the ultimate summer ritual: grab your food and enjoy it on the sand.

The menu covers all the favourites, from fish and chips, prawn rolls and burgers to seafood, hot snacks, salads and bowls. Highlights include Burt’s Burger loaded “with the lot”, a chip butty, cooked king prawns, Sydney Rock Oysters, tuna poke bowls, grilled or battered fish with regular hot chips or tallow fries, popcorn prawns and classic sides.

Easy, delicious and made for beach days, Manly Fish & Chips brings together nostalgia, quality produce and relaxed coastal energy, the perfect stop for locals, tourists and summer day-trippers alike.

Ocean Master: Newport's Fish 'n' Chip Favourite

Ocean Master was founded by the Chedid family in the late 1980s when they opened their first store in North Narrabeen. It was an instant hit.

The success of Ocean Master Narrabeen led to additional stores in Harbord (Freshwater), Collaroy, Balgowlah and then Newport. Eventually, a further twenty stores would open in Sydney and six in Canberra.

The Chedid family would end up moving on from fish and chips, selling most of their stores to new owners. However, Emma Chedid remained at the helm of their Newport store on beautiful Newport Beach.

Ocean Master Newport retains the system that has served locals and tourists on The Beaches for more than four decades.

The enduring success of Ocean Master can be attributed to Emma and her family’s dedication to providing good, clean, and fresh seafood.

The family-oriented business has a deep-rooted local history, employing hundreds of young people from up and down The Beaches.

“Working here feels like coming home,” Mark shares. “We’re preserving a beloved piece of our community’s history.”

Emma, as master of her trade, with Mark as her chief commander, are the local faces behind Ocean Master Seafood in Newport.

Often mistaken as husband and wife, the inimitable duo continues to operate with the Chedid family legacy in mind.

Ocean Master, the local, family-owned business, has stood the test of time, celebrating its 33rd year in Newport, providing fresh, authentic, and most importantly, delicious fish and chips.

There are daily specials on offer such as grilled barramundi, salmon and snapper.
So, look out for them in store or on the App, by scanning the QR code below.

On the importance of continuing her family legacy, Emma says, “Ocean Master will never stray from focusing on the ‘classic fish and chips by the beach’.”

Treat yourself to the fish and chips everyone talks about. Head to Newport and taste it for yourself, the way locals always have.
