If tacos are your love language, clear your March calendar.
One of Mexico City’s most iconic taquerias, El Vilsito, is landing at Manly Wharf, bringing its cult-favourite tacos and late-night street-food energy to The Beaches as part of La Mexicana, running alongside Margarita Week.
This is the real deal. Two El Vilsito chefs will be in town, cooking their famous tacos exactly as they do back home in Mexico City, no shortcuts, no reinterpretations. Expect smoky tacos al pastor, carved fresh from the spit, folded into warm corn tortillas and finished the way they’ve been doing it for decades.
La Mexicana builds on the buzz of Margarita Week, turning Manly Wharf into a lively celebration of Mexican flavour, colour and culture. Across participating venues, margaritas will be flowing, from classic Tommy’s styles to creative house twists, paired with immersive styling and entertainment inspired by contemporary Mexican street culture.
El Vilsito isn’t just famous, it’s legendary. By day, it operates out of a mechanic’s workshop in Mexico City. By night, it transforms into one of the city’s most talked-about taco stops, loved by locals and visitors alike. It’s earned Michelin Guide recognition and global attention, including features in The New York Times and Netflix’s Taco Chronicles.
For the Blanco family, who have been making food here for nearly forty years, this visit is about more than tacos. It’s about sharing tradition, technique and a way of cooking that’s been passed down through generations, now brought to The Beaches for a limited time.
Margarita Week will be celebrated at Manly Wharf from Thursday 19 to Sunday 29 March, with La Mexicana running from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 March, and again from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 March.
Come hungry, stay for more than one margarita, and don’t expect this one to be quiet.
