MCM House: 15 Years of Cool Comfort

MCM House, the iconic Australian furniture brand known for its timeless design, neutral palette, and laidback luxury, has just unveiled a major expansion of its Balgowlah showroom.

Once home to a catering-sized frozen Sara Lee cake under the Manly Freezers banner, the site has had a serious glow-up. Now double the size, the reimagined space offers an apartment-style layout designed for flow, inspiration and total immersion.

Step inside and you’ll find consoles to drool over, monochrome natural fabrics, veiny stone tables, and timber so smooth it could pass as butter. This isn’t just shopping, it’s a masterclass in elevated interiors.

MCM House has built a cult following for its effortlessly cool aesthetic. Think relaxed, oversized sofas, earthy tones and a lived-in elegance that feels both curated and casual. Beloved by interior designers, stylists and everyday loungers alike, the brand is known for making spaces feel warm, inviting, and beautifully undone.

The expansion comes as MCM House celebrates its 15-year anniversary. Founded by Charlie Hinckfuss in 2010, the brand has grown into a staple of Australian design, with seven locations across the country. Each showroom nods to the community around it and the history of the space it occupies.

To mark the milestone, MCM House has also launched LOYALTY, a new membership program offering VIP savings, early product releases, private sale events, and in-store design consultations for a one-off fee of $95.

“It’s our way of saying thank you for choosing timeless design, for believing in quality, and for being part of the MCM House family,” says Founder, Charlie Hinckfuss.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, what are you waiting for? For an interior experience you’ll want to move into, head to MCM House Balgowlah.
