Trial runs from 14 October 2025 to 13 October 2027. Dogs are permitted off-leash in the trial area 5.30am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm, Monday to Sunday (AEDT), and 6am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Sunday (AEST). At all other times during the trial period, dogs are prohibited in the trial area. Dogs remain prohibited at all times on Mona Vale Beach outside of the trial area. Dogs must be on-leash on the 2 access pathways from South Mona Vale Headland. Not patrolled by lifeguards; entering the ocean is at your own risk. Dog waste bags and bins are not available on the beach. Maximum 4 dogs per person.

This is the one the Beaches dog crowd waited years for. A stretch of sand at the southern end of Mona Vale Beach where dogs can run off-leash, splash in the shallows and dig to their heart's content.

It runs as a Council trial, so times are set and signposted. Access is from South Mona Vale Headland via two pathways, with dogs on-leash until they hit the sand. Fencing keeps paws out of the dunes.

Go early. The morning window suits pre-work walks and the light off the water is worth the alarm. Bring your own waste bags, as there are no bins on the beach itself.
