Dogs are permitted off-leash in the off-leash area (public wharf north to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park) sunrise to 9:30am and 5pm to sunset. At all other times dogs are prohibited in the off-leash area except if they are on-leash using the shortest direct route between boats and the grassed strip. Dogs are prohibited at all times on Mackerel Beach south of the public wharf. Dogs are prohibited at all times from the adjoining Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Please be mindful of local residents, other users and users of the wharf.

Mackerel Beach is reached by water, and it rewards the trip. Dogs can run off-leash on the beach from the public wharf north to the national park boundary, at set times.

It is a quiet, residential spot, so it suits calm dogs and considerate owners. South of the wharf is off limits to dogs at all times, as is the neighbouring Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Time your ferry or boat trip to land in the morning or late afternoon window.
