A 3km loop around Long Reef Headland with whale watching, rock pools, sculptures and views from the Central Coast to North Head.
Wide open and windswept. The Long Reef Headland loop circles the grassy headland with views north to the Central Coast and south to North Head.
Council calls it the perfect place for whale watching. Below, the rock platform of the Long Reef Aquatic Reserve teems with marine life at low tide. Near the top lookout you will find the sculptures Dance of the Tides and Kiah, a granite baby whale, plus a fisherman's hut first built in the 1870s and a row of boat winches.
It is a 3km loop that takes about an hour, graded Medium. Great for families and dog walkers. Time it with low tide.
