A hilltop reserve 155 metres above sea level with 360 degree views from the coastline to the mountains.
The highest seat in the house. Governor Phillip Lookout is a four hectare reserve 155 metres above sea level, with 360 degree views from the coast to the mountains in the west.
History runs deep. The trig beacon on the summit, installed in 1881, gave Beacon Hill its name. The reserve was named in 1931 for Governor Phillip's 1788 expedition west from Manly, and the military occupied the summit in World War II. A nearby quarry uncovered Triassic fossils about 200 million years old.
Bring the kids for a history lesson with a view. Clear days and sunsets are best.
