Good to know
The beach is not patrolled. Dogs are off-leash weekdays outside school holidays; on weekends, school and public holidays, off-leash hours are 6pm to 10am (non-daylight saving) or 8pm to 10am (daylight saving). The off-leash area is unfenced. Dogs are prohibited on the beach, in the tidal pool and within 10 metres of the playground.

Clontarf Reserve is a classic harbourside family day out. It sits on the Middle Harbour foreshore with a playground, cafe, BBQ areas and picnic tables, right next to Clontarf Beach and its tidal pool.

The calm water suits little swimmers, but the beach is not patrolled by lifeguards, so keep an eye out. Showers, toilets and water are on site.

It can be very busy on sunny weekends and holidays. Arrive early to get a table and a park, or come on a weekday afternoon when it's quieter. Part of the reserve is a dog off-leash area, with set hours.
