Belrose turned five neighbourhood playgrounds into one sensory play network. Each takes its cue from a sense, sight, sound, touch, smell or movement, and has its own character mascot.

Think tuned woks to bang, a rope car wash, solar-lit cubby houses, furry-leaved plants, lavender and edible herbs. The project started when local parents from Play For All Australia challenged Council on social media, and the equipment was designed and made on the Beaches.

The five sites are Marcus Ghatt Smith, Wentworth, Maple, Windrush and Pusan Reserves. They're small and local, so try ticking off a few in one morning.
