Sydney's summer arts festival takes over the city from Thursday 7 to Monday 25 January, with free events and more than 10,000 tickets at $49 or less.
Every January, Sydney Festival fills the city with theatre, dance, music and art, and the 2027 program is a big one. Over 19 days, shows spill out across the CBD, the harbour, Bondi and Western Sydney, with plenty of it free.
Hannah Gadsby opens a new show at Roslyn Packer Theatre from 7 to 10 January. Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels brings 12 international choreographers and companies to the Opera House, Carriageworks and the Art Gallery of NSW. Budjerah sings Donny Hathaway at the Metro Theatre, and ONEFOUR teams up with the Penrith Chamber Orchestra for a new commission at The Joan.
Down at Barangaroo Reserve, The Yard is the free festival hub, and waynapuni pools lets you take a dip in an art installation for $49. The Party, a free dance party at The Cutaway, kicks things off on Friday 8 January from 10pm. Kids can get into the Future Fiestas parade at Darling Harbour, and Waverider is free at Bondi Pavilion.
More than 10,000 tickets across the ticketed program are $49 or less, so it pays to book early. The full program and tickets are on the festival website.
