Four decades on, GANGgajang still write the songs that sound like an Australian summer. The band broke through in the mid-1980s with their debut album and 'Sounds of Then (This is Australia)', then kept going across gangAGAIN, Lingo and Oceans and Deserts, pairing melodic songwriting with sharp observation.

Their reach runs well past home, with a devoted following in Brazil and long ties to surf film. They play the Barrel Room on the closing day of Surf + Sound Festival 2026. Doors from 7pm.
