What started as a small school fête on a Friday afternoon has grown into one of Sydney’s longest-running and largest celebrations of French culture.
On Sunday 15 November 2026, the FANS French Market will celebrate its 20th edition, bringing thousands of visitors to Killarney Heights Public School for a vibrant day of French food, culture, music, shopping and family entertainment.
Organised by the French-speaking Association of the North Shore (FANS), the French Market has become a much-loved annual tradition for families, Francophiles and the wider Sydney community. For one day, more than 300 volunteer parents, students and alumni come together to transform Killarney Heights Public School into a charming French village.

Over two decades, the French Market has grown alongside the vibrant community that supports it. While the event has evolved and grown, its original spirit remains the same: bringing people together to celebrate French culture while raising funds to support bilingual education.
Visitors can expect all the French Market classics, alongside a few special surprises to mark this milestone 20th edition.

With more than 60 professional vendors, market-goers can discover French food and delicacies, quality homewares, fashion and accessories, handcrafted jewellery, gifts and more. Many products are sourced directly from France or created by French artisans.
Food lovers can enjoy a delicious selection of French favourites, from fresh croissants, crêpes and waffles to savoury treats and sweet delights, accompanied by barista-made coffee, Orangina from France and other refreshments.

The Market offers a full day of entertainment for all ages, with carnival rides, traditional children's games, live music all day on two stages, and plenty of opportunities to soak up the atmosphere.
Visitors can wander through the market streets and browse the much-loved second-hand French book stall to discover hundreds of French-language titles for children and adults.
The French Market is the major fundraising event for FANS, the not-for-profit association that has delivered the FANS French Bilingual Program at Killarney Heights Public School (KHPS) for more than 25 years.
The parent-funded program provides over 560 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with the opportunity to learn the NSW curriculum through both French and English, developing strong language skills alongside a multicultural and global outlook.
Funds raised through the French Market help FANS continue its work supporting and enriching this unique bilingual education program.
“The French Market is a wonderful reflection of what makes our community so special. What began as a small school fête has grown into a much-loved celebration that brings together families, alumni, students, volunteers, local businesses and the wider Sydney community,” said the organisers.
“Our 20th edition is a chance to celebrate that incredible history while looking to the future. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Killarney Heights for a day filled with French culture, food, music and community spirit, with a few surprises along the way!”
Whether you're a long-time French Market regular, a Francophile, a local family or simply looking for a fun day out, everyone is invited to enjoy a piece of France at the 20th FANS French Market.
