CEAD Collection Stories: Mangroves

05 April 2026
Manly Art Gallery & Museum, 1a West Esplanade Manly NSW 2095

The first of MAG&M’s collection exhibitions for 2026 turns its focus to the mangroves, seen through the eyes of artists deeply connected to the natural world. Presented as part of the CEAD (Collective for Environmental Art & Design) initiative, the exhibition offers a fresh way of thinking about place, environment and our relationship to it.

Exploring the delicate zone where freshwater and saltwater meet, the exhibition captures the richness and fragility of mangrove ecosystems through ceramics, prints and paintings. Featuring works from the collection by Les Blakeborough, Fairley Kingston, Helen Mueller, Joshua Yeldham, Weaver Hawkins, Tony Hedstrom and others, it invites reflection on how art can prompt conversation and deepen understanding of the environments that sustain us.
