Common Threads Collective: From Where She Stands
Five women artists, Katherine Butcher, Jo Mellor, Jackelyn Bickell, Rafaela Mori, and Maryellen van der Vegt, come together as the Common Threads Collective, exploring textile-based art through co-creation and sustainability.
From Where She Stands is an immersive exhibition crafted from unwanted commercial textiles, transforming them into expressive works of painting, stitching, weaving, and crochet. Each piece reflects a personal perspective of life’s changing seasons, rooted in community, collaboration, and creativity.
The exhibition champions low-impact, 100% repurposed materials, revisiting forgotten works and revitalising neglected resources. By sharing skills and ideas, the Collective turns sustainability into both an art form and a shared statement of belonging.
