Teddy’s Angus Beef Burgers $24
The first thing that comes to mind when this burger is placed in front of you, is the vast size. This behemoth that stands before you is tall, almost monstering over the fries next door. However, do not feel threatened by this beast, it is but a pet that needs to be tamed.
Your tools? The handy little mittens you’ve been using to drink delicious beer and gesture as you tell stories of the big burgers you have tackled before. You grab the burger in your hands, a scent of caramelised meat start to swirl up your nose, and the soft milk bun slowly caves in under the pressure of your eagerness.
Finally you bring it up to your chompers, slowly biting in as you feel every layer come together in a mouth-watering marriage of flavours, textures and moisture.
The beef, a 50/50 chuck and brisket blend has a deliciously juicy centre, but also a crust of flavour brought together by the tango between a highly heated grill and the cold proteins. The house-made comeback sauce has a strong tang and bold follow through, but also finishes with a light creaminess.
The lettuce and tomato, providing a small kick of acidity and freshness, keeps your palate interested in every bite.
Finally, the ginormous, thick cut onion rings come in at the end with an almighty crunch, adding to a harmonious swirling of textures in your mouth. This burger definitely impressed me.
